Max Heart Rate Calculator
Quickly estimate your maximum heart rate using the standard 220 minus age formula. Understand what the number means and its limitations before using it for training.

What Is Max Heart Rate?
Your maximum heart rate (HRmax) is the highest number of beats per minute your heart can safely reach during maximum physical exertion. It is a key benchmark for setting training zones and assessing cardiovascular fitness.
The "220 minus age" formula is the most widely cited estimate. It comes from population-level studies and works reasonably well as a starting point for healthy adults. However, individual max heart rate can vary by ±10–12 BPM from the formula.
For a more precise measurement, a clinical graded exercise test (stress test) performed under medical supervision is recommended. Always consult a doctor before beginning a high-intensity exercise program.

These are general estimates based on standard formulas (220 minus age for max heart rate). Actual max heart rate varies by individual and can be measured more precisely via a clinical stress test. Consult a doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have a heart condition.
